Tick what hurts. Most QuickBooks pain comes from the same three workflows done slightly wrong, and I have seen every one of them.

DiagnosisYou are receiving payments but never depositing them as a group into the bank register, so nothing lines up with the bank feed. Deposit, then match.

DiagnosisSales were recorded with invoices and sales receipts, then the bank feed was accepted against an income account a second time. The fix is a workflow, not a journal entry.

DiagnosisYou are paying it with a plain check to an expense account. Run the sales tax liability report, adjust for Washington B&O, and pay it through the sales tax menu so the liability actually clears.

DiagnosisA deposit applied straight to accounts receivable counts as income before you have earned it, and you pay tax early. Park it in a customer deposits liability account and apply it when you invoice.

DiagnosisNot enough memory, less than 15% free disk space, a file past the Pro or Premier limits of 100 and 150 MB, or slow Wi-Fi and old Cat 5 cabling. Sometimes it is simply time for Enterprise.

DiagnosisThat is a copy, not a backup QuickBooks can verify. Switch to single-user mode, back up with verify turned on, do it weekly, and test a restore once so you know it works before you need it.

Why the name?
Like an old-fashioned doctor, Keith made house calls, white lab coat and black bag included. He came to your office, your kitchen table, or a quiet coffee shop with good Wi-Fi, and left when your books stopped hurting. The bag is retired. The house calls now happen on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams, on your schedule.
